Searching for the Best Rate

One of the most frequently searched mortgage terms is "Best Rate". Often websites, known as "rate comparison sites" will pop up. They promise to help you find the best rate for your next mortgage by comparing hundreds of interest rates from different lenders at any given time.

Rob McLister, with the Globe and Mail has a lot to say about the downfalls of using rate comparison sites. He believes, as we do that "there is currently no good mortgage comparison site for these customers, making knowledgeable mortgage advisors even more essential."

If rate comparison sites can't be trusted, then it's important to find a mortgage associate or broker with the right experience, tenure and competence. Perhaps that is a more important tool for the future - a website that lets consumers know more about mortgage associates in the industry than just the province and company they work with.
