Calgary’s Field of Crosses is being readied for Remembrance Day.

Volunteers have been busy planting white crosses along Memorial Drive, each representing a fallen soldier from Southern Alberta.

The crosses, all inscribed with a name, rank and date will stay up until November 11th.

Organizer David Howard tells City News, this annual tribute is important to so many people.

“It is an amazing sight when you see over 3,000 crosses set up of soldiers that put their lives on the line for the freedoms we enjoy,” he said. “And nothing shows in my estimation it better than the cross.”

Starting November 1, there will be a public flag-raising ceremony every morning to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

May we never forget the young men, the fathers, the husbands who gave up their lives. Always Remember - BHMA
