2014 Mortgage Statistics

• 74% of new mortgages were fixed rate mortgages
  
• 35% of mortgage holders took steps to accelerate mortgage repayment
  
• In 2013, 47% of new mortgages were obtained through a bank, 39% with a mortgage broker (the mortgage broker share has been steadily increasing every year)
  
• More than 80% of Canadian homeowners have an astonishing 25% or more equity in their homes
